Happy 70th birthday, Bill!

One of my friends, Alletta, asked me to photograph her father's surprise 70th birthday party. It was held at Three Rivers Cafe in Warren, Rhode Island. Having a professional photographer cover your party or an event is a great idea! It takes the stress off the family-shutterbug so they can just enjoy themselves! Family and friends don't have to hassle each other to get all their photos together. You receive a CD from me of all the photographs taken at your event, all in one place within a week of your event. It's so easy. After all the event planning, don't you just want to enjoy yourself?

I love these kind of jobs! With family and friends enjoying each other--it's just such a nice atmosphere!

Three Rivers Cafe-Water Street, Warren, Rhode Island. (Really adorable shops and resturants on Water Street!! It makes for a lovely Sunday afternoon trip!)

Signing the matte to go around an 8x10 from the party.

That is Bill's photo on a tin of custom printed M&Ms!

Here's a macro-photo of the custom printed M&Ms! The beige ones say "BILL IS 70!" and the blue ones say "5/15/07", the date of Bill's 70th birthday. (Wicked cute idea, Alletta!)

The kids were so excited to see grandpa.

The guests hiding right as Bill arrived. (He thought he was trying a new resturant he'd read about.)

SURPRISE!

The man of the hour!

Champagne toast.

All the guests.

We had a great view of the harbor!

Slideshow!! (I ALWAYS tear up watching other people's old-photo slideshows!!)

I love it whenever there's a slideshow at an event. I have the opportunity to capture so much emotion.

You'll be seeing more of this family. I'm also photographing their family portrait this Sunday at their home!

Rylan's Baptism

Sunday, May 27rd, baby Rylan was baptised at First Parish Church, in Taunton, Massachusetts. Elizabeth & Jonathan (Mom & dad) had quite the time before the ceremony on Sunday! They endured overbookings at the airport, a decorative angel falling through the cake and even having their rental car hit by another vehicle! But....they still made it and had a beautiful ceremony! You all were so fun! I loved having a great dinner with all of you!

Grandpa and Rylan. Look at that adorable outfit!

Here's dad signed the Certificate of Baptism.

Rylan was not a happy baby when Rev. Gibney poured the water on her! Awww!! He sprinkled her three times, in the name of the Father, Son and Holy Spirit. He laughed and said "Thank goodness there's only Three up there!!"

Congratulations!

New Camera Test Drive

I recently sold my back-up camera and replaced it with an identical model of my lead camera. (Switching back and forth between two different camera models can get confusing in the fast pace of the action!) So I was just testing it and I came up with this shot of my awesome and supportive boyfriend, James. James really hates having his picture taken--guess he better get used to it!! He usually just ignores me! This is with a little bit of window light and laptop-light.

You know you own a business when...

...you can differentiate between a FedEx or UPS truck just by the sound alone.

The Lasky Family

The Lasky's came in for the studio's Limited Edition: Spring Portrait Sessions. (LE: Spring Portrait Sessions are with the daffodils on Farewell Street or the cherry blossom trees in Morton Park.) The 6 of us had a great time! We had a beautiful day with just a little bit of bearable wind! What a fun family!

Here are a few of my favorites. Look at those gorgeous pink blooms! I just adore these trees!

Erin & Dillon

Erin & Dillon came in for one of the studio's Limited Edition: Spring Portrait Sessions. (The LE: Spring Sessions are either daffodils or cherry blossoms.) We went to the field of daffodil's on Farewell Street, here in Newport. I had a hard time picking my favorites because Dillon & Erin are so beautiful! The light was so dynamic on our day! Below are my favorites, and I also created a slideshow!

Look at my new wedding shoes!

For the past two seasons, I've been searching for good shoes that I can stand up in all day while covering weddings. Something cute, and somewhat fashionable, but good for my feet. Not to casual and not too dressy.

Well, I think I found them!!! I went to Nine West in Providence Place yesterday and got these leather mocassins. I popped off a few shots of them in the studio today. They have soft soles too, so you won't hear me clicking around your wedding ceremony!!

They are $60 at ninewest.com. (Unfortunately, I'm NOT getting $$$ from Nine West for bragging about their company to all of my photographer friends!)

Chloe & The Cherry Blossoms

Here's my beautiful Sheltie, Chloe, at Morton Park with all of the breathtaking cherry blossoms that just bloomed. (I still have a few appointments open if you'd like to have a session with me before the blooms fall off the trees. They only last a few days.)

Isn't she beautiful? And look at that background! I wished I had these available year around!

The House of Scrimshaw Fire, May 9th, 2007

Most of you have heard about the fire on Thames Street here in Newport. My dad is a local Newport firefighter and I have been doing some work for the department lately. Beside covering ceremonies and fire department functions, they asked me to come to fires. The fire on Wednesday broke out at 2:30am, and I arrived at the scene at 5:45am. (What beautiful light at 5:30am! Maybe we should do portrait sessions at daybreak!! Mmhm...kidding!) As many of you know, studio hours at 11am-7pm for various reasons. But I discovered that I can in fact, take really good pictures at 6am!

Anyway, the guys did a great job keeping the fire contained. The situation could have been much worse if not for the hard work of the Newport Fire Department. When I arrived, the fire was already out, so these images are of the guys wrapping up the scene and packing the trucks. They don't stand around drinking coffee if the building is still on fire!

There's some "artsy-detail" shots in there! (I can't help it! I'm a wedding photographer at heart!)

That's my dad!

THIS IS MY FAVORITE!
